From more traditional beginnings, the city took off over the last 15 years to bring us some of the most sought after architecture in the area. These are just three of the examples. China’s economy is seeing huge growth levels, apparently so is their real estate market. From the very odd on the far left, to the simple yet beautifully modern designs, Beijing is a modern thriving metropolis. A lot of its best work was inspired from the Olympics that were held there. Which makes me wonder and want to research what has happened to these great structures since the games have left the city? It could be wasting away like many Olympic sites do.
This week we head to the City State of Beijing, China. I have deemed it the City of Old and New due to its ancient look in some areas and superb modern architecture in other areas. Tiananmen pictured here is the capital building of The Peoples Republic of China it reminds me of ancient China’s proud history of all of the Dynasties and wars that were fought to secure the land. I say proud because China, though sometimes corrupt is still an impressive country with a rich history of culture and art. Tiananmen is known globally as the entrance to the Forbidden/Imperial City pictured below. This week we will examine the city itself as well as art and the general culture associated with Beijing.
You know you live in a rich area when your cop cars are worth over $100k…each. Here we see a picture of Dubai’s police force in amazing cars such as the Lamborghini Aventador. The whole fleet includes types like the: Chevy Camaro SS, Ferrari FF, Lamborghini Aventador, Aston Martin One-77, Bentley Continental GT, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Ford Mustang GT, and BMW M6. All of which are used for patrol. Tough life for these cops huh? Must make that job pretty appealing. The thought is that since there is so much wealth in the area, most people can afford these types of cars or types that could handle extreme speeds. I think Dubai may have had to employee these vehicles in order to just keep pace in a chase. Nevertheless, it is a high price to pay for law enforcement.
It is interesting to believe that by 2020 there will be a new worlds tallest building that actually will trump this one. We see in this photo that only the tallest buildings in Dubai can be seen above the clouds and the fog on what appears to be an early morning. The light that we see coming up is undoubtedly from the levels of light pollution from the city below. All of the buildings in the city are of significant height, however, the ones that we can see actually tower all the rest. Each tall spire that is reaching toward the rest of the universe is lit up like a beacon of hope for a dark world. Just one mans opinion, but this looks very calm and serene up from this view. Under the clouds one can expect commotion, horns, sirens, tv’s blaring, and lots of talking. Up here it is peaceful, quiet and majestic.
This week we will look at Dubai in many different images. The city and area has been quite eerie in the past few years as alot of the buildings have been empty and unfinished. Though it is starting to pick up the city still provides eerie pictures thanks to its geographic conditions as well as its out of the box architecture. The city as a whole contains some of the worlds most impressive architecture. For photographers and vista lovers the area has become an area that is very desired to visit by many. It is serene and beautiful. As you can see by this picture of the current that is heading in to shore, the picturesque views and vistas are absolutely calming. This week we will see many different images from this area of the world.
As we are all recovering from the many July 4th Fireworks displays that took place yesterday, I stumbled across this image that in my mind absolutely trumps even the best one i have ever seen. This image may be one of the best capture images of the Burj Dubai Tower on New Years Eve, shortly after its opening. The tower is lit up and shines as a beacon over the city. It is a beacon of power, prominence, and hope for the regions future. This and many others like it are magnificent representations of the power that fireworks release. Such brilliant light and vibrant colors. I encourage you to search out additional pictures.

How do we judge what is out beyond our personal point of reference? It could be our imagination, some areas of logic, and even areas of our past allow us to see things from a different perspective. What do you see here? What are you missing in the image if anything?
Here is what i see…
A day is ending, to the tree that has stood here for many years it is just another day in time. Its life has left it with both fruitful times and hardship. Reminds me of a human being in a way. The lower limbs look broken off in some areas. Perhaps a lightning storm contributed to this. The tree stands on the corner of a farm along the long fence line and gazes out over the plains. It is a hazy afternoon as the sun sets. The haze never seems to extend too far past the trees in the area. Reminds us of a morning fog as the sun rises. The sun in the background projects its beams of light as usual, now they are heightened and more visible thanks to the moisture that allows the light to refract. It is hard to remember while looking at such magnificence that this tree, in the haze, at sunset, is only a point in time.
